Even the expensive ones have to be setup before they work properly. That goes for all power tools.

You have to differentiate between what would be basic manufacturers setup for a machine (hopefully wheels alligned, frame not twisted, motor mounted correctly) and what is user setup. Adjusting the guides is just a basic part of the user getting the blade into working order, something you have to do every time you change blades and something you should at least check every time you untention and retention the blade. It's akin to buckling your seatbelt and turning the key when you want your car to go. The manufacturer doesn't do that for you.
